ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. This all-encompassing term refers to the safety features found in most cars manufactured in the last few years. These features include Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, as well as many others.
Some of these systems are controlled by forward facing cameras found near the rear view mirror. When a windshield is replaced, the camera must be taken off the old windshield and reattached to the new one. Because the camera is moved, it must be recalibrated to ensure that the safety features function correctly.
